What is Dye Sublimation?
Dye Sublimation is an intimidating way of describing the transfer of an image onto an object.
Sublimation ink converts from a solid to a gas without passing through the liquid form, allowing us to apply an image using heat and pressure! This is the super simple non-chemist version, there is more to it than that, but you understand the concept.
Seems easy enough.
The beauty in this process is we can print full, bright colors onto the material. The ink actually embeds into the material and becomes a part of it.
Special Material?
You can ONLY use any polyester or polymer-coated substrates.
It is important to note that the material we use is special to the item and must already have the coating for Dye Sublimation to work. In addition, this process looks best on a white background material.
What can we make with dye-sublimation?
If you are new to this process, it is helpful to know that this transfer can take place using Dye-Sublimation paper, Printable Dye Sublimation Materials, or Blanks (coffee mugs, cutting boards, signs that we can apply to image to).
Indy Badge uses this process to make several products including, desk name plates for your office, custom business card holders, custom name badges, and coasters! We can create signs, a custom license plate, keychains, and puzzles! What about a company ornament to give employees at holiday time. The opportunities go on and on!
